If you live in a cold climate, this could be the workhorse shoe of your lineup. It can function well as your winter MTB shoe, your commuter shoe, and your winter road shoe. It’s great offroad because booties are always a little too delicate for any situation with rocks and logs. It’s great for commuting because you can walk into the office wearing these without the clack, clack, clacking of road cleats, and it’s great for road riding because portaging is more common in winter and easier with a tread.

This is the SiDi Competition sole, same as what’s on the Dominator 5, bolted to an insulated, Gore-Tex® upper. The insulation is great, but it’s the Gore-Tex® that makes this shoe stand out. The SiDi guys wanted to see how well their factory sealed the seams on the shoe, so they closed up the straps and filled the upper with water. Three hours later, and it was still holding. Nothing is getting into this shoe.

The upper is ankle-high with a snug, Velcro® and neoprene cuff to keep the heat in and the weather out. Three Velcro® straps hold each foot in place.

Features:

  • Upper in synthetic transpiring fabric and Lorica®
  • Lined with a breathable Gore-Tex® membrane
  • Four Velcro® straps
  • Millennium 3 Sole

  1. The Perfect Winter Boot

Posted by Tim on 6th Jan 2011

After suffering with cold, wet feet once too often, i decided to buy a pair of winter boots. I chose these after reading some good reveiws online and what a pair they are,Beautifully made, firm sole and the SPD bolts completely sealed off from shoe so no cold/wet spot on base of foot. These are one of the most expensive boots you can by but worth every pound, and as the saying goes you get what you pay for. As for sizing, normal size with a thick'ish sock will fit perfect.
